Almost 100 business leaders gathered at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth last week for the latest Evolve Leaders Lunch, where guest speaker Ian Elliot, Co-Founder of Elliot Brown Watches, shared his journey of building lasting, product-led brands from Dorset and taking them to the global stage.
Hosted by Warren Munson, founder of Evolve, the bi-annual event – sponsored by Ellis Jones Solicitors and Azets – brought together local owners, founders and senior leaders from across the local business community for an afternoon of inspiration and discussion.
During an engaging live Q&A, Ian reflected on his journey from co-founding Animal, the iconic lifestyle brand launched in Poole with just £250, to building Elliot Brown Watches, a brand now recognised worldwide for its durability, precision and purpose.
Drawing on decades of experience, Ian shared practical lessons on leadership, brand-building and resilience – highlighting the importance of long-term thinking, attention to detail and building businesses with strong foundations. His reflections on trust, craftsmanship and doing the right thing by customers and teams struck a strong chord with the audience.
Warren Munson, founder of Evolve, commented: “It was a real pleasure to welcome Ian as our guest speaker. His story is a brilliant example of what it takes to build a brand that truly stands the test of time – combining creativity, resilience and a relentless focus on quality.
“What really stood out was Ian’s emphasis on trust and kindness in business. In a world that often focuses on short-term results, his approach is a good reminder that strong relationships, integrity and doing the right thing are what ultimately underpins long-term success in business.”
The Evolve Leaders Lunch, held twice each year, is part of Evolve’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for business leaders across the region to connect, learn and grow. The next Evolve Leaders Lunch will take place on Friday 2 October 2026.
