Got an idea for a business but not quite sure what to do next?
The Start Line is a practical workshop designed for people thinking about starting a business or taking their first steps into self-employment.
Rather than simply giving you more information to take away and read, this session is about helping you explore your idea, ask the right questions and start working out what your next steps could look like.
Alongside other local and aspiring entrepreneurs and founders, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss and test your ideas, learn from others and begin shaping some of the foundations of your business, including your business plan and approach to marketing.
During the workshop, we’ll explore:
- Your motivations, hopes and concerns around starting a business
- Who your customers could be and how you might reach them
- Marketing and sales
- Financial planning and sources of funding
- Key legal and practical considerations
- Where to find further advice and support
There will also be time at the end of the workshop for a brief individual conversation with an experienced Evolve business advisor, giving you the chance to talk through your particular idea, challenge or next step.
The Start Line forms part of a wider programme of business start up support being delivered across the Dorset Council area. It is followed approximately six to eight weeks later by On-Track, a follow up session designed to help you review your progress and work through the next challenges or opportunities you encounter.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come along. Bring your idea, your questions and an open mind, and we’ll help you work out what comes next.
